My weight loss

When I finally felt that I'm ready to have a baby, I decided it's time to lose weight. It may seem strange,  but I just woke up one day and knew that that was the start of my long journey to wellness. I thought the first week is going to be hard, but it wasn't. The hardest part was sticking to the plan which is fairly simple.: repeat and practice eating 1 cup of rice for 21 days to form a habit. Eventually I conquered that and moved on to the next level, cutting down again my rice intake to 6tbsp spoon during weekdays and 9 tbsp spoon during weekends.  I did this for a month then slowly my body became accustomed to 6 tbsp of rice. During that time, I'm also into exercising and I started visiting my ob-gyne. We plotted a new plan for me to follow.  Here are the things I did for the last 6 months.
  • I eat twice a day. Brunch and dinner
  • I drink lots of water 
  • I only consume 6 tbsp of rice
  • Lots of vegetables
  • Less meat
  • Fresh fruit juice sweetened by wild raw honey
  • Doing household chores
  • Positive outlook in life
  • As much as possible I don't sit around. I no longer waste my time in front of a tv or computer. 
  • Walk regularly.
  • Journal your progress. Schedule weigh-in once a month.
  • Take a photo of yourself and compare with last's month shot.
  • Buy new clothes and get rid of the old ones.
  • Play with your pet/s if you have one. 
  • Read a lot. (your brain needs exercise too) the more you know the more choices you have. Be in charge of what you eat.
  • Eat slowly. Enjoy every bite. When you eat slowly, you feel fuller which usually means you eat less.
  • Indulge moderately. You can eat a few spoonful of your favorite dessert to satisfy your cravings. You don't need to eat the whole cake.
  • Set a goal why you need to lose weight. In my case, I wanted to have a baby next year.
  • Learn how to cook. It's nice to know what you feed your body.
  • Don't use diet pills. The result will be fast but eventually the fats will be back once you stop.
  • Find yourself a good doctor. Someone whom you are comfortable to talk with about your weight loss questions. 
  • Eat to live not live to eat.
  • Don't skip meals it will lead to eating large portions of food. 
  • I take longer routes when I visit my parents home.
  • Sleep early.  A regular sleep time pattern fosters a healthier deeper sleep cycle, making it easier to wake up in the morning.
You see, the key to weight loss is lots and lots of patience. There is no secret formula to a healthy lifestyle you just need to set a goal and stick with it and when obstacles come your way, just remind yourself "everything will pass and things will get better, I just need to go on and continue my journey to a healthy, happy me".
Remember: Stick to a plan that is sustainable. repeat and practice for 21 days to form a habit. :)
