Ginisang Kalabasa with Chorizo Pamplona

Ginisang kalabasa was the first recipe I learned to cook. It was so easy to prepare and one of my comfort food but when I got married and decided to prepare this for us, hubby didn't like it at first.

For him, it was too bland and needs a lot of meat flavor. It took me awhile to discover chorizo pamplona and when I combine the two, it culminated explosions of flavor for hubby. He loves it!!!

Kalabasa (Squash) peeled, seeded and cut into small chunks
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 onion, chopped
Chorizo Pamplona, sliced then minced
sugar, pepper and salt to taste
soy sauce

Heat oil then sauté garlic and onion for about 1-2 minutes. Add chorizo pamplona and cook until it changes its color. Add squash. Cook until the squash is tender. Season with soy sauce, salt, pepper and sugar. Cook for another 3 minutes then serve.

Saging con Yelo

Growing up, one of my favorite summer snack was Saging con yelo. Sweet+Cold equals happiness. :) :) :)

Saging na Saba, Sliced
1/2 cup Brown sugar
1 cup water
Boiled sago
1 tsp vanilla extract

Combine water and sugar. Stir to dissolve and bring to a boil. Add saba, boiled sago and vanilla extract. Cook for 10-15 minutes until saba are tender. To serve: Add milk and crushed ice.
