If I can, I would. Drink milk that is. You see, besides having a hard time digesting meat, I'm also lactose intolerant* and the only milk that I can consume without me having unpleasant symptoms is soya milk. A good option for me that is fortified with 500 mg of calcium per serving.There's no way I can consume 3 liters (different flavor) of soya milk before it goes bad, that's why I love Lactasoy because they have 500 ml tetra pack. I can now buy different flavors in small quantity. I do a bit of research and found eatbydate article about the shelf life of milk alternatives.
*Lactose is a sugar found in milk and milk products. The small intestine produces lactase, an enzyme that breaks down lactose. The small intestine is an organ that breaks down the food you eat. Common symptoms of lactose intolerance include: bloating, a feeling of fullness or swelling in your belly, diarrhea, gas and nausea. You may feel symptoms 30 minutes to 2 hours after you have milk or milk products. You may have mild or severe symptoms.
