Paper vs Digital Books

I've been reading like forever and during my college days, I was able to accumulate tons of books more than my bookcase can accommodate. I had to give it up by selling some of it and those that was left, are in my Auntie's house, arranged neatly and have their own bookcase. I thought that was the end of my buying spree but the smell of reading materials is so hard to resist especially those old books from my favorite local second hand bookstore, Booksale.
Going there and browsing for hours is the best way to unwind and relax after a day's work. Then, without me realizing, it happened. I'm out of space again. I was heart broken and did what I need to do. I give them away and just picked my favorites. I promised myself to stop from buying then, I discovered e-book and I was over the moon.

My problem is solved. Tons of books+endless space equals happy me. The idea of me carrying books without breaking my back is so irresistible especially when I'm travelling. It's also available immediately for downloads in my favorite online store. No more waiting. There are tons of reason why I prefer e-books over paper that I can list here, but my love for paper will always be in my heart and soul. Nothing beats the smell and feel of book in my hands. So, if you ask me which is better? My answer is both. Either paper or digital have the same effect on me. No contest there.

Around Here

It's been awhile and I miss blogging. This space and everything about it. As I mentioned in my last post, We were sick and to keep matter worse, I accidentally rupture my eardrum and hearing in my left ear is currently affected. My doctor prescribed an antibiotic to treat my ear infection and I was assured that no specific treatment needed for a ruptured eardrum because majority of it will heal within three months. :) Ok enough with my ear and let's do a recap of what I've been up to.

  • I'm stuck with my September reading list. Still reading The Marriage of Opposites by Alice Hoffman and I'm far from finishing the book with the simple reason that mojo is gone again.
  • I'm currently obsess over sweetpetalcake instagram pictures and how beautiful her cakes and cupcakes. It was beyond amazing.
  • Bought myself a watercolor cake by Simbalion to try my hand in water coloring. I need more practice and a new set of brush.

My Week In The Life Album is still on my table, left there with dust starting to build up. Seriously, laziness at its finest.

Been busy cooking...

French Toast

Breaded Porkchops

Malunggay Pasta with spicy shrimp and tomatoes

Calamansi Cupcakes

Mongolian Buffet (served during my sister's birthday)

Harvested my first ever lollo rossa lettuce

and made a simple salad with homemade onion rings

Tried paper cutting and love it

Went to HMR and found the same all-purpose fold down table by We are memory Keepers for less.

I rearrange my scrap space to accommodate more scrapbook supplies. Been hoarding lots of paper lately.

Cook a simple breakfast to celebrate hubby's birthday

and created a honey-bee inspired digital layout as my gift

And lastly, I got lucky when a friend posted several pictures of her journaling cards collection for sale. It was 600+ of journaling cards! I was what??? Despite the sickness, I still feel blessed to be able to enjoy spending time with my family and doing the things I love to do. :)

Been busy with...

a few things here and there. I created or should I say revived an old blog and turned it into a shop for physical products such as fabric flowers, scrapbook papers, samplers and recently fabric bouquet while the ecwid shop will be for digital products only.

This is not the simplest set up at first but after a day of tweaking and uploading, I can say that, this was worth the time I spent on my computer table. You can check my sidebar for the products that are currently available in both shop.

I'm also drafting a post about what I've been up to for the past two weeks while I (including my family) had a tough battle with a virus that refuses to leave us alone. It was one nasty virus that became the reason of me rupturing my eardrum. More on that in my next blog post, In the meantime, I'm enjoying the Tamang Panahon replay that I happen to watched live on TV this afternoon. Seriously, It was EPIC.

love for music

Everyday, after I do my chores, I always listen to music for relaxation. I always adore how talented the artists that I’m listening to. Now I’m wondering, what if I or my husband were given a chance to showcase our musical inner self? I’d definitely love to have my own musical instrument. However, since I cannot go out of the house as often as I want, I’d rather buy one and pay musicians friend credit card online. Hopefully, I can search for that perfect instrument for me.

The Virus wont leave us alone

My whole family (including my pregnant sister) is having a tough battle with a cold that refuse to leave us alone. It all started last week, when my father meet her aunt and cousin over coffee. His cousin had a cold at that time and you know what happen next. My father after an hour or two of exposure, got the virus and the next morning it was passed on to my mother. 2 days later, I got it and hubby got it from kissing me. We immediately avoided my sister to keep her from getting the virus but it was so strong that she end up getting it as well. We drank tons of water, orange juice and even multivitamins to keep our immune system strong but seriously, as of this writing, we still have it. I'm having a hard time sleeping at night due to nasal congestion and the worst part is, I started coughing with phlegm and my throat hurts like hell. I cant laugh because every time I do that, I ended coughing so hard that I vomit afterwards. I hate you virus. just go away and leave us alone.

Cocoon Ebook Reader

Last June, before the moved, Hubby and I went to HMR to checked if this e-reader is available. Unfortunately, the time of our visit, it was out of stock but another brand was available and so with the price tag of Php 790.00 or $16.95, it was a good deal.

What I really like about this reader is, It's not touch screen and the buttons are simple and easy to navigate. It didn't come with a manual (which is, totally fine with me) because its easy to figure it out anyway.

The e-books are listed by author and title but when you open a book, the cover will appear and the book will move up to the top with all the information you needed to remember like, the last time you read it and which page you are.

Lastly, the best thing about this simple e-book reader is, it has a bookmark function. I love to write down those memorable lines (or in this book, recipes) and just remembering them would be a disaster (given I have a memory gap) so, that function is a big help to me.

p.s.

Cocoon is one of the many product brand of WinPlus Australasia. A wholesaling company that operates in Boronia, Melbourne, Australia while HMR Philippines, is a surplus store located in Madaluyong city (they also have other branches within the metro and in the province)
