In Between 2015 and 2016

Disclaimer: This is a rant post written on December 31, 11:40 pm, few minutes before new year's eve.

It was the perfect evening. A happy one. Few more minutes and it's 2016. Then something happened that will forever hunt me. My sister (who at that time, is browsing her Facebook news feed) share that a friend of mine just gave birth. Of course, I'm very happy and thankful that she and the baby is OK. Miracle of life always fascinates me. Not all people are given the chance to experience it. A baby is a gift worth celebrating that's why I understand the burning desire of new parents to share it not only to those close to them but to the world by social media. I get it. Totally understand. What I don't understand is, Why would they think it's OK to post graphic birth photos of themselves in social media that going to be seen by involuntary friends or family?

What I saw traumatized me big time. A doctor pulling out a baby out of her belly. I wasn't prepared to see that in the middle of a happy event. I'm happy for the birth but I don't want to know or see the process especially if there's no consent ask or given. Giving birth is graphic and messy. I don't want to see that in my social media feed. Ever. I appreciate the intent of sharing but in my opinion it was over sharing. I believe that this kind of photos should be share privately to those people who want to see it in details.

The experience may be wonderful and beautiful for her but to think that all people are prepared to see that without being traumatize in the process is kinda insensitive. The point is, I'm not prepared. I don't choose to see that between two wonderful and beautiful first photos of her daughter. What has been seen, cannot be unseen. Ever.

You may think that, I may be over reacting. That may be true, but I would confidently argue that, the posting is done by her after giving birth not during the process. The photos were taken by her husband and it was posted by her in her facebook account. So, you may ask? what's the point of my argument? She's already OK when she decided to post it. She was very conscious of the update while I was still clueless of the graphic photos. That's what this post is all about. I was subjected to it without the knowledge that it's coming! I wasn't there to witness the conception because it was done privately, why would I want to see the birth publicly? That moment is precious and special. To her, to the father and to her baby and to those people involved at that time. It should remain private. period.

One Little Word 2015: THE COMPLETE ALBUM

Years from now, I will look back to 2015 One Little Word. The word that changes me forever. It was a roller-coaster ride that tests my patience and faith. I didn't like it but hell, I did learn a lot of things about myself, my marriage, our family, friendship, and work. A tiny word that turns me into someone else I never expect. I was blown away and at one point, I thought I'm going to plummet into sadness but this tiny word is also the one that uplifts my spirit. Such a powerful word.

This is not the album I envision at the end of the year but it was better than I expected.

Most of the journaling cards I used came from the Project Life Kraft Edition

First, I copy/paste all my one little word blog post to the word document then print. I used my Martha Stewart Crafts - Scoring Board to create a scoring line as a cutting guide but as you can see, I still messed it up.

I miscalculated the space needed for my printed journaling to fit in my cards so, I improvised. I folded the paper in half and add a tab.

The tab above, I used manila craft tag, Switchboard Collection - Ephemera and Crochet Thread

The lovely paper clip is currently available in our shop, Ordinary Days clear stamp by Ali Edwards and the "you are my favorite memory" c came from Switchboard Collection - Chipboard Stickers

The "rain rain go away come again another day chipboard sticker" is by Pink Paislee Hello Sunshine Collection - Chipboard Stickers

Without a doubt, my favorite thickers is Patchwork by American Crafts

For binding, there are several options:
  • Sewing-I personally love this technique but there's no way I could sew the journaling cards side by side.
  • Gluing-just like sewing, there's no way I could glue them side by side.
  • Binder rings-the mini album is too thin for a binder ring.
  • Elastic band/Rubber band-the best and only option I have and I love it. The gold rubber band match the overall color theme of my mini album.
At the back of the cover page, I added my reason and why

This is going to be one of my favorite mini book. EVER.

Surprise Gift

This Christmas season give your loved ones their most wished gift. While many of us want to have the most updated gadget we could have, others wanted to have something they could use for their musical talent. Just like my best friend, who’s been reading good reviews of Meinl online, because she wanted to give her brother a good set of drums this Christmas. He would definitely be surprised with his gift!

My Favorite Childhood Snack

Christmas season always brings back memories. Those happy days of my childhood in my mother's hometown. The care-free and innocent days. I will always treasure those times with my cousins.

4 weeks ago, As I do my usual marketing, I encounter a vendor that sells caramel coated rice puffs or busa as we call it in the south. Immediately, I was back in my childhood days. Those little balls of sweetness and crunch satisfy my craving for sweets. I remember consuming more than my daily limit of sugar and end up hyper through out the day. I can't help it. Once you pop, you can't stop. It's easy to be addicted with it. It was amazing.

Storage Solution

If you’ve been following my blog for some time now, you’d know that I’ve been doing Project Life for years now, and with that I do have tons of scrapbook materials. Along with it, I have to keep all of them organized. While I have everything in place all ready, I’ve been wishing to have a big table with full extension drawer slides for easy storage. That way, I don’t to reach out what’s on my drawer because I could see all the contents of my drawers when pulled out.

In His Perfect Time

I always believe that God knows what our hearts long for even before we ask him. He already have a grand plan for us. We just need to believe in his perfect time. Patience is a virtue as they say.

This year, I lost count how many times I prayed for guidance, for enlightenment, for removing pain and hatred in my heart. At one point, I asked him, why? not why me, but why flood me with tons of character provoking situations in uninterrupted succession. I was like, "Oh, God, please give me more strength to go on because I'm too heart broken and fragile. I'm not losing faith I'm just too tired to fight back.

I thought it would never end. But it did. And then, the whole cycle started again. It felt like a roller-coaster ride. There's nothing I can do but sit back and enjoy the ride and let God control the gears of my life. And I did. I learned to let go and let God do it. Eventually, I began to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I did a happy dance. My life is normal again. No more sleepless nights. I can smile again.

The day has finally come to say to myself, "Tracy, you did good this year. You survived. You made it without breaking. In His perfect time, you are whole again and this time around, you are stronger than ever and you are very much ready to continue the good life".
